Symmetrical rosettes, the kind you find in stained glass or a kaleidoscope.
The symmetry is not drawn many times over. The effect draws one wedge and folds the rest of the circle onto it, so a twelve-fold mandala costs the same as a one-fold one. Every pixel works out its angle around the centre, then that angle is wrapped into a single slice and mirrored. Whatever gets drawn in the slice therefore appears identically all the way round, and the symmetry is exact rather than approximately matched up.
symmetry sets how many slices there are, and layers stacks concentric rings of them outward from the middle. shape picks what sits in each ring, a petal, a triangle, or a simple dot. twist is the one to reach for: it rotates each ring a little further than the one inside it, which turns a set of rings into a spiral. bindu adds the dot at the very centre.
